Policies and Complaints
At PACT, the wellbeing and safety of tamariki and rangatahi are central to everything we do.
We want young people and whānau to understand what they can expect from us, how we keep people safe, and what to do if something does not feel right. This page provides access to the key policies and processes that guide our work.
If you need help understanding any of this information, or would prefer to receive it in another format, please email info@pact.org.nz. A member of the PACT team will be happy to help.
Our Code of Practice
Our Code of Practice explains the standards expected of PACT staff and volunteers when working with tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.
It includes respectful relationships, professional boundaries, safeguarding, behaviour guidance, confidentiality and accountability. We use relational approaches that uphold the dignity and mana of every young person.
Physical punishment, humiliating or degrading treatment, threats, and responses made in anger are not permitted.
Keeping Tamariki and Rangatahi Safe
PACT is committed to providing environments where tamariki and rangatahi are safe, respected and listened to.
Our Child Protection Policy explains how we prevent and respond to concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child or young person. All staff and relevant volunteers are appropriately screened and receive safeguarding guidance and training for their roles.
Privacy
PACT respects the privacy of tamariki, rangatahi and whānau.
Our Privacy Statement explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is stored and used, and when it may need to be shared. Information is handled in accordance with New Zealand privacy law and our safeguarding responsibilities.
Health and Safety
PACT takes practical steps to provide safe environments for young people, whānau, staff, volunteers and visitors.
Our Health and Safety information explains how we identify and manage risks, respond to incidents and emergencies, and support safe participation in our programmes and activities.
Raising a Concern or Making a Complaint
We want to hear from you if you have a concern, feel something has not been handled well, or believe we have not met the standards you should expect from PACT.
You can raise a concern with any PACT staff member or email info@pact.org.nz. We will:
-
Listen and treat your concern respectfully.
-
Take your concern seriously.
-
Explain what will happen next.
-
Protect your privacy as far as reasonably possible.
-
Respond without unfairly treating you or the young person involved.
-
Keep you informed while the matter is being considered.
Where appropriate, we will first try to resolve the concern through a conversation. You can also make a formal complaint in writing or ask someone you trust to support you through the process.
If you have a concern or complaint right now:
Holiday Programme Information
Our Holiday Programme information explains what whānau can expect when a child attends, including supervision, behaviour guidance, medication, health needs, collection arrangements, activities and safety.
