School-based support for tamariki and rangatahi
Tautoko is PACT’s school-based mentoring and support service for tamariki and rangatahi who need extra support to work through challenges, strengthen wellbeing, and stay engaged in school.
For over 30 years, PACT has walked alongside young people and whānau in South Auckland. Through trusted relationships in schools, we support tamariki and rangatahi who may be facing challenges with emotional regulation, friendships, behaviour, family stress, or engagement in learning.

What Tautoko includes
Tautoko may include one-to-one mentoring, small group support, help with emotional regulation, confidence and friendships, transition support across school years, whānau engagement, practical support, advocacy, referrals, and targeted classroom-based programmes.
At Papatoetoe High School, Tautoko also includes support from PACT’s Whānau Connector, registered Social Worker Max Stowers. This role provides responsive support for rangatahi and whānau facing more complex challenges, including advocacy, safety planning, restorative hui, and connection with other services where needed.
Drugwise & Your Choice
As part of our school-based support, PACT also delivers Drugwise and Your Choice for Year 9 students at Papatoetoe High School.
Drugwise helps rangatahi understand the risks and consequences of drugs and alcohol, while building practical strategies for making safer choices and looking after themselves and their peers.
Your Choice explores healthy relationships, including consent, respect, boundaries, communication, and personal safety.

How we work
Our work is shaped by the Lighthouse framework, a bicultural approach that helps us walk alongside tamariki and rangatahi in ways that build trust, recognise strengths, and strengthen agency. It supports young people to make sense of challenges, identify goals for the future, and take positive next steps with the right support around them.
At the centre of the framework is wairuatanga, alongside the guiding pou of Atua, Āta, Ako, and Aroha.
