Social Worke

Social Worker

An exciting opportunity is available to join the PACT team in a newly created Social Worker position.
The role will be based at Papatoetoe High School and will work closely with other support services both in the school and the community to offer early and responsive social work interventions for ākonga and their whānau. Key focus areas include building trusting and positive relationships with whānau and working closely with the school and PACT youth workers to implement strategies to improve ākonga engagement and attendance.

Successful candidates will

 

  • Be a qualified Social Worker and hold a Bachelor in Social Work degree.

  • Have a minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience working with at risk youth including a broad knowledge of adolescent behaviours; and demonstrate the ability to engage with, assess and motivate youth at risk of poor education or psycho-social outcomes.

  • Have an ability to work with students and their whānau in ways that value, validate and affirm students identity, language and culture.

  • Monitor and review the effectiveness of any interventions in individual cases to ensure that services are appropriately coordinated and focused, and that goals set are achieved.

  • Be confident undertaking home visits in the community.

  • Be able to think on your feet, maintain professional standards, role model ethical behaviours, ensure the safety of young people and their families and provide realistic expectations for youth development.

  • Show clear and professional communication in both written and verbal, ability to goal plan, and problem solving comes naturally to you.

  • Demonstrate active development of working partnerships in South Auckland with community agencies, accommodation providers, budgeting services, schools, Government departments and youth service providers to increase opportunities for youth development and success.

  • Have efficient case management, evaluation and record keeping skills.

  • Be culturally aware and have knowledge in particular of Māori and Pacific Island cultures and uphold the tenets of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

  • Align with the Christian faith based nature of PACT.

  • Have a full clean driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Community Youth Worker

PACT is a Christian charitable trust based in Papatoetoe and we have been impacting our local community for over 25 years. We work with over 700 tamariki and rangatahi each year.

We a looking for a new part-time or casual Community Youth Worker to join our team working 5-15 hours per week.

You will support our Intermediate and High School programmes.

All PACT staff are screened, and police vetted to assess they are a safe person to work with children.

Successful candidates will

 

  • Be passionate about being part of an organisation that positively impacts youth in Papatoetoe.

  • Have experience working with at risk young people.

  • Align with the Christian faith based nature of our organisation and want to be part of a small, supportive, and fun team.

  • Have the ability work across diverse cultures and develop strong community networks.

  • Have the maturity to work both independently and within a team environment.

  • Be confident undertaking home visits in the community.

  • Have efficient case management, evaluation and record keeping skills.

  • Have a full clean drivers license.
